Oxygen is required to create energy via respiration. Breathing takes oxygen in and carbon dioxide out of the body (ventilation) with the relaxation and contraction of the diaphragm muscle. This process works in conjunction with the intercostals muscles connected to the rib cage. Another part of this process occurs in the pulmonary alveoli, which are the primary sites of gas exchange with the blood. Once in the blood, the heart powers the flow of dissolved gases around the body in the circulation.
The diaphragm, intercostals, abdominals, oblique, pharynx, larynx, trachea, bronchi and bronchiole, lung and the terminal branches of the respiratory tree, such as the alveoli are all involved in respiration. Using Eolos you work all these muscles and organs strengthening them to achieve a better respiration, reducing shortness of breathing and boosting endurance.
